Sarah McClure is an investigative journalist and producer

About Me
I’m a Mexican-American investigative journalist, producer, and filmmaker based in California and Pennsylvania. I’m currently a co-founding producer with reverie documentaries, a production company dedicated to telling nonfiction, ambitiously-driven, journalistic documentaries and narratives that explore bold, untold stories about our world.

I previously worked as a producer at Univision, Fusion, and The Wall Street Journal. I have written for The Guardian, The Fuller Project, The New York Times, NPR, Cosmopolitan, Agence France-Presse, Type Investigations, and Latino USA, among others.

My approach to storytelling is based on deeply reported, accountability journalism and human-driven narratives. My specialty is long-form and investigative coverage—focused on gender issues, environmental justice, sexual violence, Latin America, and communities of all shapes and sizes.

I love international reporting and have worked across the globe.

  • At Agence France-Presse’s Mexico City bureau, I wrote a La Reforma story on Central American migrants' use of mobile technology to safeguard their journey to the U.S.

  • At Univision, I co-produced a documentary on Mexico's underground sex-trafficking ring (English adaptation from Fusion's documentary, Pimp City).

  • At Fusion, I produced hour-long episodes for the Netflix investigative series, The Naked Truth about radicals in Europe and sexual abuse in fraternities.

  • I have reported throughout India, Italy, and Mexico.

I’m working on a book proposal based on my investigation into Amish sexual abuse, and am repped by CAA literary agency.

About My Film, “Keep Quiet and Forgive
I’m currently directing a PBS documentary, “Keep Quiet and Forgive,” based on my investigation, The Amish Keep to Themselves, published in partnership with Type Investigations and Cosmopolitan magazine. The award-winning investigation exposed a widespread coverup of Amish child sexual abuse.

In 2020, I started developing my film and was selected as a recipient of ITVS Open Call. Since then, my film has been selected for The Gotham Market Week, Athena Film Festivals’ works-in-progress, and awarded by The Rogovy Foundation.
